Materials - 1 ball wool (NOT WHITE) Size 8 (4mm) needles and 1 set 6 (5mm) needles Abbreviations: K = knit, P = purl, K2tog = knit two stitches together Gauge - 20 stitches = 4 inches on large needles in stocking stitch (i.e. 1 row knit, 1 row purl) Cuff - with smaller needles cast on 48 stitches Work knit 1, purl 1 till you have 1½ inches Change to larger needles. Knit one row (right side), purl one row until the total from cast on measures 5 inches. End with a purl row, (wrong side) Shape top - Row 1: K2tog, K2 till end of row: you now have 36 stitches Row 2: Purl Row 3: K2tog, K2 till end of row, you now have 27 stitches Row 4: Purl Row 5: K2 tog, K1 till end of row, you now have 18 stitches Row 6: Purl Row 7: K2tog till end of row, you now have 9 stitches Cut wool leaving a long thread. Thread into wool needle and draw through remaining stitches on knitting needle. Draw tight and fasten securely Sew up seam Turn up cuff |
